Yakuza publisher Sega has released a consumer survey (via GameSpot) asking fans if they fancy seeing more entries in the throat-punching, hostess-flirting adventure series following the release of Yakuza Kiwami 2.

While the remake of 2006's acclaimed PlayStation 2 brawler is now available in the US and UK (watch the launch trailer, it's totally mint), this doesn't necessarily spell the end of the franchise.

Firstly, we know that PS4 is getting remasters of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 in Japan, and the survey asks 'how interested are you in remasters/remakes of existing Yakuza games?' This definitely indicates they're thinking about bringing them to the west.

Elsewhere, the company wants to know 'how interested are you in new games set in the world of Yakuza?,' presumably pointing to the in-development Yakuza Online and Yakuza 7.

While details on the next chapter in the series are still forthcoming, we know it won't feature Kazuma Kiryu; instead, it'll introduce a new hero in the shape of Kasuga Ichiban. Both Ryu Ga Gotoku Online (as it's known in Japan) and Shin Ryu Ga Gotoku have not been confirmed for a western release at present.

The survey also asks 'how interested are you in purchasing games created by the Yakuza team in other worlds?,' like the upcoming Fist of the North Star?'

Finally, Sega wants to know if folk are keen on 'various spin-off titles that never received Western release?,' suggesting that it may be willing to localise some of the more obscure titles, such as Yakuza Kenzan and Yakuza Ishin.

Considering it took a lot of effort to get even the mainline Yakuza games localised some years back, it's definitely encouraging to see Sega entertaining the idea of more releases in the future.
