Sega isn't currently working on a Yakuza 0-2, but if we ever do see a follow-up to the gut-punching prequel then it'll (obviously) again star young incarnations of Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima.
That's according to Yakuza producer Daisuke Sato, who was quizzed by Gameblog if a sequel to Yakuza 0 is in the pipeline (via PST).
'We are still completely in the dark as there is no particular [Yakuza 0-2] project [in development]. But if we were to make it, it would be about young Kiryu and Majima again,' replied Sato-san.
Elsewhere, Sato revealed that we may not have seen the last of Kiryu despite his story being neatly wrapped up with a bow in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.
'He is not dead, and that does not mean he will disappear completely, we may see him again one day,' he said.
One thing that Sato wasn't optimistic about is the series' chances of coming to Nintendo Switch, thanks largely to the failure of Yakuza I & II on Wii U.
Sega is releasing Yakuza Kiwami 2 in the US and UK this summer.
