PlayStation exclusive Concord has gone down in history as one of the biggest blunders in the game industry. Shut down less than two weeks after launch, the multiplayer hero shooter has been dubbed a colossal failure.

Nevertheless, upcoming Amazon show Secret Level, an animated anthology of video game stories that also features an official Space Marine 2 sequel, features an episode based on Concord. However, the episode also appears to be a thinly veiled advertisement for characters that will never release.

Concord Secret Level episode features all-new characters

In a new advert for the upcoming episode of Amazon’s new animated series, fans have received their first look at Secret Level’s Concord episode. However, the teaser features not a single character available in the launch version of the game.

In an almost unparalleled level of corporate embarrassment, it appears that the new animated episode is a teaser for characters that would have been introduced in post-launch updates.

While we only had one proper trailer for Concord before launch, the trailer focused on two rival crews competing for loot. All of these characters were included in the launch version of the game.

However, the Concord episode of Secret Level features an entirely new crew of characters, one being some kind of alien fish lady. Viewers are invited to “Explore Concord”, something that literally can’t be done outside of the episode.

Secret Level is also set to promote a few other PlayStation properties including God of War and even Helldivers 2. There is an obvious skew towards the promotion of a number of properties, even if the included stories are fantastic, but Concord’s inclusion is still a bizarre piece of PlayStation marketing.

With Concord servers officially dead, refunds issued for the game and the studio already closed, there is no way the game will return. Even if the new episode ends up being the most popular show ever, the PS5 exclusive is dead and buried with only its animated ghost left to roam.

The Concord episode of Secret Level releases via Amazon Prime on December 10, 2024.
