The official sequel to Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 isn’t a new video game, but an animated episode of Amazon’s new Prime Original series Secret Level. As a video game anthology series, Warhammer 40K is just one entry in a swathe of other game adaptations. In a surprise twist, the show’s Warhammer episode is a direct sequel to Space Marine 2.

Titus returns for Space Marine 2 sequel

Games Workshop has confirmed that Secret Level’s Warhammer episode will not only be a sequel to Space Marine 2, but also follow the game’s protagonist Titus. The hulking Ultramarine will even return with his video game voice actor, Clive Standen.

Many fans already expected the episode to follow the character as the helmet seen in the trailer for Secret Level matches up to his promotion at the end of the video game. However, this has now been confirmed.

“Yes, that’s Titus and what’s that fancy laurel on his helmet?” Games Workshop announced. “If you’ve completed the game, then you already know! This animation follows the conclusion of the video game like a… secret level.”

At the end of Space Marine 2, Chapter Master Marneus Calgar drafts Titus for a mysterious new mission, likely involving the forces of Chaos. With the Xenos threat still occurring on Kadaku, which is being taken care of in post-launch operations, Titus has been whisked off for a new mission.

Necrons?

While the ending of the video game did tease the arrival of the Necrons, this direct sequel is expected to continue the focus on Thousand Suns Chaos fighters. However, we may end up seeing Necron soldiers fighting in an eventual Space Marine 3.

While story DLC is being considered after the massive sales success of Saber’s new Warhammer title, nothing has been confirmed on that front. Nevertheless, the game is one of the most popular Warhammer games ever released, and that should be celebrated.

Secret Level doesn’t only include animations based on Warhammer. In fact, the show also features huge IP such as God of War, Helldivers and PlayStation’s already-deceased Concord. The show officially launches on Amazon Prime on December 10th with its second half releasing on the 17th. Warhammer’s episode is included in the first half.
