Work on a second Silent Hill movie has stalled because of writer/director Roger Avary’s imprisonment for vehicular manslaughter following a fatal car accident in 2008.
Late last year producer Don Carmody said that Avary would remain attached as the scriptwriter, but his future as the movie’s director was uncertain.
Speaking more recently to horror publication Fangoria, Carmody gave an update on the status of the movie.
“[It’s] a little stalled now because of Roger Avary’s [legal problems], so a little unsure yet. The original plan was Roger writing and polishing the screenplay, and when he had finished his thing, we’d begin full-blown preproduction,” said Carmody. “I’m not sure what’s going on with that. We know we want to make Silent Hill 2 and have a basic outline for it. We’ll have to see.”
