Koei has announced that Samurai Warriors 2 Empires, the tactical action game set in Feudal Japan, will be available for PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 across Europe from March 16.

Combining the most exciting aspects of Action, Fighting and strategy games, Empires sees Japan divided into 25 warring states and it is up to the player to resurrect a nation. Special events in the game chronicle major turning points in Japan’s history, including “The Honnôji Incident” where the powerful warlord Oda Nobunaga, met his demise, and “The Battle of Kawanakajima,” considered the largest and most prolonged encounter of the Warring States era.

The game will feature Empire Mode, plus the new Free Mode in which players can choose any stage and fight using any officer in the game. Players can also choose to create their own warrior in New Officer mode, and enter the action with a friend with support for two-player co-op.

Samurai Warriors 2 Empires is scheduled for release on PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 across Europe on March 16.
