In this guide, we’ll be taking a closer look at the official Samsung Ark release date, where to buy the Ark, pricing, and full specifications.

Samsung Odyssey Ark price

According to the official Samsung page, the Odyssey Ark will retail for an eye-watering $3499.99 upon launch.

While that does seem incredibly expensive, when compared to ASUS’s 32-inch mini-LED PG32UQX, you’d have to say it is the more attractive prospect.

As part of its launch, customers who decide to reserve and pre order the panel will receive a tasty $300 off the launch price too.

The Odyssey Ark is also up for pre order in the UK now, with pricing starting from £2,599.

Expert’s view – huge specs, huge screen but refresh isn’t the highest on the market

We’ve chatted to Charlie Noon, who is WePC‘s dedicated monitor expert, for his view on the new Ark.

“There is a lot of hype surrounding this 4K HDMI 2.1 monitor because it’s the first 55ins 1,0000R Curved monitor ever made,” he told us. “It’s very obscure – it’s huge and the target market is small. Not only is it $3500 – it’ll need a huge desk. It can be wall mounted but still, it’s a huge piece of kit.

“It’s not the most powerful monitor on the market – it’s got 165Hz Refresh, which is average, but you won’t find anything of this size with these specs. The fastest TVs are at 240Hz, which are quicker – however the Ark has a quoted 1ms response time, so should be very fluid. However, being so big you’ll need a powerful pc to drive these frames at that resolution.

“It’s got mini LED backlight technology at its core, meaning the LEDs it uses to illuminate the screen are far smaller than your run-of-the-mill LED monitor or TV – offering up over 1000 local dimming zones to help prevent haloing and other similar artefacts.”
