Volition, developer behind the upcoming Red Faction Armageddon and Saints Row: The Third, has told VideoGamer.com that it has other, yet-to-be-announced projects in the works.

When asked if there was any new IP on the way (discounting inSANE, the upcoming collaboration with director Guillermo del Toro), David Abzug, lead designer on Red Faction: Armageddon responded:

“There are, but I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about them.”

Asked whether the developer had abandoned the FPS genre, and if we could expect to see Volition return to it with a new IP, Abzug replied:

“I would like to return to it with another IP, yeah.”

“First-person and third-person are just two different ways of making it. There are things that first-person does better, there are things that third-person does better. Third-person gives you more situational awareness, first-person makes you feel more involved in the action. Third-person lets you see your character more, first-person gives you a more claustrophobic view – it’s better for a military shooter.”

With Red Faction: Armageddon done and dusted, the developer certainly has time on its hands for another project, although whether this will be an FPS or not remains to be seen.
