Far from damaging the potential success of THQ and Volition’s Saints Row: The Third, the release of the Grand Theft Auto V trailer will actually help the dildo-obsessed title, says M2 Research’s Billy Pidgeon.
“With the GTA V trailer promoting an as yet undated release out before THQ’s Saints Row: The Third ad campaign kicks into high gear, the action-adventure sandbox genre with a crime-oriented theme gets promoted, and both games will likely benefit,” Pidgeon explained to IndustryGamers.
Pidgeon also believes increased attention on the video game industry this week and next makes now a great time to launch the GTA 5 campaign: “The trailer can gain some altitude on EA’s and Activision’s dimes from the increased video game excitement this week, with Battlefield 3 out now and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 coming soon.”

GTA 5 is without a release date – though summer 2012 is the current favourite – meaning THQ has little to worry about in the crime sandbox space this holiday season and beyond. Only a crowded release calendar can get in the way of the game’s success.
