A potential title for WoW’s next expansion has emerged after a trademark was recently registered for “Mists of Pandaria”.

The trademarked title, initially spotted by MMO Champion, refers to the home of the Pandaren race once rumoured to be one of the playable races in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, according to Eurogamer.

The Pandaren, martial arts masters that look like pandas, began as an April Fool’s joke in Warcraft 3 and were later added into the game due to fan response.

Last April, an alleged Blizzard schedule was leaked which claimed the next World of Warcraft expansion would be released in Q2 of 2012. Currently World of Warcraft has an 18-month cycle between expansions.

The current expansion, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, recently went live in China.
