Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda may be adapted into a TV series, according to comments from Adi Shankar, producer on Netflix's popular Castlevania anime.

Nothing has been set in stone yet, but Shankar did confirm that he is currently in talks with an 'iconic Japanese' game developer with hopes to turn one of their franchises into a dedicated series.

Ninty certainly fits the bill as far as iconic gaming companies are concerned, and Zelda would definitely make for an interesting adaptation. Presumably it'll be animated, but we'll have to wait and see.

The Legend of Zelda did receive a cartoon series back in 1989, although it only ran for one season. It wasn't great, to be honest, and is probably best remembered for Link always uttering 'Well excuuuuuuse me, Princess!' every five seconds.

Maybe it's just as well Link is mute in the games, eh?
