Ruffian Games hasn’t announced Crackdown 3 but has unveiled Game of Glens, a new game based on its earlier project Tribal Towers that forms a part of Square Enix’s Collective.

“Game of Glens is a fun and frantic game of skill and tactics that provides a genuinely new and unique blend of action and strategy,” states the game’s blurb. “You manage your Highland Clan and compete in the original, ancient Scottish highland games known as the Game of Glens. The game combines resource management, physical structure building and projectile based combat, featuring a variety of single and multiplayer gameplay modes.”

During the time Ruffian was reworking its plans for the title, Square Enix announced the Collective, a new platform to support crowd-funding and self publishing.

Collective is a curated platform that enables creators to receive feedback from gamers to decide whether those ideas should become reality or not.

Collective pitches work as follows: “Take a look through the projects, and if something catches your eye, you could help make it a reality – firstly by showing your support with a YES vote, and also by sharing your thoughts on the concept in the comments section of the pitch or pitch updates. Each project campaign lasts for 28 days, and at the end of that period, if there’s clear support for that idea, the team may be offered support through crowdfunding via the Collective campaign page on Indiegogo.”

Ruffian made us think it was announcing a new Crackdown, so the fact that all we got was a crowd-funded strategy title is a disappointment.
