Amidst what some might call a paper launch of the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB launch, we’ve spotted a juicy price drop for the RTX 3060 12GB model.
Now with a price tag of only $289.99, the MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 is enjoying some renewed interest in 2023. Featuring a larger 192-bit memory bus of GDDR6 memory, the RTX 3060 is a much more affordable alternative for gaming than the 4060 Ti 16GB. Both cards are marketed as the best GPUs for 1080p, but with the discount, the MSI Gaming RTX 3060 is just over half the cost of an RTX 4060 Ti 16GB at launch.

While the RTX 3060 doesn’t feature next-gen features like DLSS 3, advanced ray tracing or fourth-generation tensor cores, you’ll find its 12GB of VRAM equips it for most demanding AAA games if you’re happy to play at 1080p. Depending on your usage, you’ll find you might not need those features anyway, making the RTX 3060 a great shout. This particular model has just one HDMI port, so make sure you invest in an adaptor for the DisplayPorts if you plan to use two monitors in your setup.
Is the RTX 3060 worth it in 2023?
Though the RTX 3060 is almost three years old, it still performs a fantastic gaming performance at 1080p and 1440p. If you’re going for the 12GB VRAM option, then you’ll find the RTX 3060 fares extremely well. Though the 4060 Ti 16GB is by no means a poorer performing card, the lure of the RTX 3060 in 2023 has to be its cheaper price point. If you can find a good discount on the card of around 40% off, then we’d say the RTX 3060 is definitely worth buying in 2023.
