You’ve seen the new Max Payne 3 screens and now we’ve got some new info on the highly anticipated sequel.
As previously revealed, the game is set 12 years after the events of Max Payne 2, with Max visibly older, more violent, and more world-weary from the events of his past. He’s left the NYPD and has been taking on odd jobs in security and consulting, with the game picking up with Max providing personal protection for a wealthy family in Sao Paolo. Max soon finds himself drawn into the brutal heart of Brazil’s dark underworld.
Many of the series’ trademarks have been retained: a focus on story and character-driven action, a large number of weapons with dual-wield capabilities, Bullet-Time, an addiction to painkillers, mature themes and Max’s internal monologue.
The game has been created using Natural Motion and Rockstar’s own RAGE engine, and will also feature a brand-new particle physics technology, advanced close-quarters combat, an intelligent cover system, and constantly varied gameplay.
Max Payne 3 is scheduled for release in winter 2009 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
