Mad Catz has announced that it has signed an agreement with Harmonix to re-release Rock Band 3 in time for Christmas this year.

Mad Catz will bundle the re-released software with its Rock Band 3 Wireless Keyboard, Wireless Fender Stratocaster, and Wireless Fender Mustang PRO-Guitar – which allows players to learn and play real guitar and bass parts for some 83 tracks.

“We are pleased to assume publishing responsibilities for Rock Band 3 this holiday season.” said Darren Richardson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz Interactive, “Rock Band is the ultimate interactive experience for any music fan, whether they’re looking for a great party game to share with friends, playing through Rock Band’s 3000 plus song library, or seeking out a fun way to learn guitar, drum or keyboard skills using Rock Band 3’s PRO Mode.”

Despite relatively poor sales, Rock Band 3 was received very well by critics. In Martin’s Rock Band 3 review from last year, he said “if you’ve still got a passion for the genre, or you’re seriously considering furthering your understanding of the instruments with Pro mode, Rock Band 3 might just be the most important rhythm game to date.”

The re-release has only been confirmed for the Xbox 360 at this stage.

There’s no official release date attached to the game just yet, but it’ll be out in time for Christmas.
