The director of an unnamed fledgling Steam rival has hit out at Valve’s digital store, claiming Steam is “killing the PC market”.

“Publishers don’t give a s***, they don’t care what happens to the customer. Which is the crucial point, because Steam do,” the anonymous director told MCV

“I’ve fought hard for my customer, and never before have I had to give my customers away. Steam is killing the PC market and it is no wonder digital retailers are failing.

“Steam is locking down the market.”

In the eyes of the gamer, Steam has been at the head of a resurgence in PC gaming, not the nails in its coffin.

With over 30 million active users it’s hardly surprising digital rivals are struggling to compete.
