Double Eleven and Ludeon Studios have announced they’re giving the latter’s space colony sim RimWorld a Console Edition next month.

Originally released on the PC in 2018, the game uses an “intelligent AI storyteller” to help drive its story. In the vein (no pun intended) of similar PC sims like Dwarf Fortress, you’ll kick off with three shipwrecked survivors. Finding themselves marooned on a distant world, it’ll be up to you to guide them to survive and, eventually, become an entire society.

Along the way, you’ll harvest resources and materials on the planet – and every choice will be in your hands. From things like the health of your colonists to their style, you’ll build and destroy facilities, factories and everything in between. Each Colonist also has their own unique background, which will inform their stories. These stories, generated by the aforementioned AI, will inform how they react and either help or hinder your efforts.

Of course, for this console version Double Eleven have worked hard to convert the control scheme to a controller. Not only that, but they’ve worked closely with the game’s original developers Ludeon Studios to ensure the game translates to the telly while staying true to its roots. They’ve had plenty of experience, having worked on the console versions of Rust and Prison Architect to name a few.
