Despite initial plans to make RIFT a fully dynamic world without any traditional questing system, Trion Worlds CCO Scott Hartsman explains why the idea never fully blossomed.

Speaking with PC Gamer, Hartsman stated the issue comes down to accessibility.

“A lot of it came down to a lack of clarity,” Hartsman states.

“People need to feel like they have a place in the world in order to feel like it’s a world they want to keep coming back to.”

In order to do this, the development team added a static layer of quests alongside the dynamic one already available.

Hartsman recently detailed what the studio has planned for the MMO throughout 2012, including new endgame material.
