Ridge Racer Unbounded is to be released in 2012, Namco Bandai has announced. The game, currently in development at Bugbear Entertainment (FlatOut series), is coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Very little is known about the newest entry in the arcade racing series, but the released trailer (which shows no gameplay footage), ends with a car ploughing into another, sending it flying into the air.

The last Ridge Racer game to arrive on home consoles was 2007 PS3 exclusive, Ridge Racer 7. Ridge Racer 3D is due to hit to the 3DS in the launch period.

FlatOut isn’t a household name, but it’s a series that has a strong following. FlatOut Ultimate Carnage was also a beautiful game, giving us hope that Ridge Racer Unbounded will look pretty smart on its release next year.
