Sony has announced the sequel to Ridge Racer, one of the most popular launch titles for the PSP. The game is said to offer around three times as much play time as the first game, with lots of new cars, new racing modes, and plenty of new courses. We’re even promised a brand new intro movie – woooot.

Although Sony has been a little tight with the info, Famitsu has already revealed that the sequel will include a new Arcade mode, plus Duel and Survivor modes. World Tour mode, Time Attack and Wireless Battle all return in the sequel, although sadly it appears wireless is again limited to ad hoc, so no online play. 18 courses will be included, each made from elements seen in previous Ridge Racer tracks.

The game’s out in Japan on September 14, and is slated for a Q4 release in Europe.
