Jason West and Vince Zampella, former Infinity Ward bosses and co-founders of independent studio Respawn, are said to be feeling the burden of the ongoing legal battle with former publisher Activision.
Last month Activision moved to expand the lawsuit by including EA, publishing partner for Respawn.
According to new documents obtained by Kotaku, Activision is suspected to have known of EA’s alleged involvement in the case over six months beforehand, but through waiting until December 2010 hopes to delay the beginning of the trial until May 2011.
Zampella and West are contesting Activision’s wish to include EA in the case and any subsequent delay, stating that they are “paying for this litigation from our own funds” and that to date the cost of the case has “[exceeded] our combined annual salaries”.
It’s not just money issues, but also the time the amount of time the pair are having to dedicate to proceedings, said to be having an adverse effect of attempts to get the studio up and running.
