As one of the many games getting graphical upgrades in light of the PS5 Pro, Resident Evil Village is getting a big bump up to 120fps, Capcom has confirmed.
Following PlayStation’s State of Play presentation last night, a series of dev logs got blogged. This included snippets from Capcom on Village and Dragon’s Dogma 2.
“For Resident Evil Village, we added 120fps gameplay to provide the best possible user experience on PS5 Pro. Thanks to this major performance boost, the unique and memorable cast of characters looks even more realistic, adding greatly to the scare factor, and the action scenes have more punch than ever before. The beautiful and haunting world of Resident Evil Village uses the power of PS5 Pro for ultra-high-resolution technology, painting a vividly realistic picture that allows for the highest sense of immersion.
“Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror game with a ton of gameplay variety, built around the concept “Survival is just the beginning.” On PS5 Pro, the game runs at a higher framerate, making the dynamic action even more intense. Resident Evil 4 also uses the power of PS5 Pro for ultra-high-resolution technology, painting vividly realistic imagery brimming with detailed environments and more natural and beautiful visual effects than ever before.”
The PS5 Pro’s capacity to offer up 120fps is a huge jump from the base model, which could only hit that frame rate in very specific games, and even then, tediously.
This is thanks to the upgraded graphics chip inside, which is going to offer PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) and enhanced ray tracing. Resident Evil Village looks to capitalise on this by “adding greatly to the scare factor” and “making the action even more intense” through an increased fps.
When the PS5 Pro was first showcased by Mark Cerny earlier this month, there was little in the way of actual technical benchmarks and capabilities from the list of PS5 Pro enhanced games. The information from PlayStation finally gives us a little insight into how exactly the games are improving.
Dragon’s Dogma 2, for example, is going to thrive with PSSR and ray tracing, which will serve to greatly improve performance. When it initially released, the console versions of the game saw pretty heavy performance critique due to the obscene lack of optimisation. Thankfully, the PS5 Pro Enhanced version of the game should heal some of those issues.
