Capcom has revealed that sales of its Wii on-rails shooter, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, has surpassed sales predictions by 50% – sales of the game as of December 31, 2008 stand at 950,000 units.

“Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles” (for Wii), which is the latest title of the series, achieved robust sales particularly in the US and Europe. The popularity of this title helped to make a favourable start in year-end sales,” said Capcom.

Capcom also notes that Monster Hunter Freedom 2 which was released for PSP in February 2007 has now sold more than 1.5 million copies in Japan.

Critics’ favourite Zack & Wiki has sold approximately 300,000 units worldwide, although sales do not include those in European territories – the game only launching there early in the company’s Q4.
