The release date for Resident Evil 6 has been moved forward by almost two months and will now hit stores on October 2, a leaked trailer for the game has revealed.

Capcom made a big splash with the Resident Evil 6 announcement earlier this year, claiming the November 20 launch date. Since then a number of other games have showed their hands, which may have convinced Capcom to move its tentpole title.

The date change means Resident Evil 6 now arrives before heavy hitters such as Assassin’s Creed III, BioShock Infinite, a Call of Duty game and Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

Halo 4 and FIFA 13 are likely to release before Resident Evil 6’s October 2 debut.
