The downloadable content hidden on the Resident Evil 6 disc will be given away for free, Capcom has confirmed.
Two of the items discovered by dataminers earlier this week – including the No Hope difficulty mode and a co-op partner for Ada Wong’s campaign – will be unlocked via a free title update due to be released for the game “soon”.
The update will also make Ada’s campaign available from the start, meaning you won’t have to play through Leon, Chris or Jake’s campaign to access her story.
This data, Capcom confirms, is already on the disc, but requires a download to access.
The additional hidden content discovered on the disc, meanwhile, including the alternative Mercenaries costumes, can be unlocked for free via ResidentEvil.net.
Premium DLC set to be released in the future, including the timed-exclusive Xbox 360 multiplayer DLC, is not on the disc. “We said as much a month ago,” Capcom community manager Brett Elston stated, “but that point may have been lost in the shuffle.”
Resident Evil 6 launched on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 last Tuesday. It’s already racked up an impressive 670,000 sales in Japan.
