Capcom's grisly-looking Resident Evil 2 remake will allow players to pick between two different visual and performance settings.

Speaking with GamingBolt, Capcom brand manager Mike Lunn confirmed that the survival horror revamp will allow for a 4K @ 30fps mode for PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X versions of the game.

What isn't known is if this will be native 4K or achieved through checkerboard wizardry.

In addition, another setting will bump up the frame rate to 60fps, although it's not yet known what resolution the game will run. Presumably, we're looking at 1080p, which is usually the case with this sort of thing.

What about bog-standard PS4 and Xbox One consoles, though? 'Right now it is running at – We are targeting a high frame rate, but it’s still to be determined,' replied Lunn.

Resident Evil 2 is due out on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on January 25, 2019. The game is a full-blown remake of 1998's zombie-mashing PlayStation sequel, and introduces a new Resi 4-style over-the-shoulder viewpoint plus new designs for Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield.

The original Resident Evil 2 has sold over four million copies worldwide to date, making it one of the best-selling games in the series.
