Not too long ago, gamers noticed that the option to enable ray tracing had inexplicably been removed from Resident Evil 2 and 3. There were no patch notes nor updates to herald the removal of the feature, and Capcom have been quiet in response.

However, thankfully, they’ve just tweeted a statement:

“We’re aware of an ongoing issue with the raytracing option not appearing in the graphics menu and presets, We’ll have this addressed in a future update and apologize for any inconvenience!”

Alongside that, they’ve also posted the following image highlighting the issue:

We have confirmed the following issues, and we intend to have this addressed in a future update.

Their statement includes no fix or information on how to work-around this issue – so for now, you’re going to have to play the games without the feature. It seems as though the issue will “addressed in a future update,” though there’s no indication when this could be.

One Twitter user responded by saying: “Please leave it off, don’t want my mods to break,” while others have stated their relief that it was merely a bug rather than an intentional removal.

We’re going to be keeping an eye out for the latest on Resident Evil 2 and 3’s recent loss of ray tracing, so make sure to check back in with us periodically.
