The Walking Dead developer Telltale Games is reportedly looking to have another company take on its ex-staff on a contract basis to polish off the final two episodes of The Final Season, according to sources at Kotaku.

Reportedly, the third episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season has almost been finished, and was due for a ratings review with the Entertainment Software Rating Board on the same day as Telltale laid off the majority of its staff

The sources also revealed that the fourth and final episode in the zombie drama series was coming along well, with voiceovers for the main characters already recorded. Furthermore, a first review of a playable version of the episode was scheduled for the end of September.

Speaking to Kotaku, a former developer said: 'The script was strong and the whole team was excited about how we were finishing out Clem's story.'

Right now it is unknown how many former Telltale employees will be available to come on board to help finish the remaining episodes. Many ex-staff are obviously hurrying to find new jobs, as they did not receive any warning of their position being terminated and did not receive severance pay.

Another source who is familiar with the negotiations said that an agreement was expected to be reached last Friday. Another former developer noted that it is unlikely those who were involved in The Walking Dead will be around to finish the season the longer that talks drag on.

Episode three and four of The Walking Dead: The Final Season were originally planned for release on November 6 and December 18, respectively.
