Epic Games boss Mark Rein has promised Gears of War 2 fans that an improvement to the game’s matchmaking is on the way.
In a post on the official Gears forum, Rein said matchmaking “will be improved along with other tweaks and improvements to the game as well”.
His comments come amid a flood of complaints from gamers over troublesome matchmaking when attempting to play the phenomenal game online.
At the end of November Epic released a patch intended to combat “immediate infrastructure issues”, leaving potential gameplay issues for a future update. The patch, however, has done nothing to stem the tide of posts relating to matchmaking and other online issues, including lag.
In a previous post on the Gears forums, Rein told posters to “relax” before confirming that the developer is going to make “improvements to the multiple aspects of the multiplayer portion of the game over time”.
He said: “I’m confident that many of the things that concern you will be addressed. There is no point us getting down in the weeds with complex explanations (that are over my head anyway) because often it is a series of minor things that fix major issues you might be having. Regardless of what specific development techniques we use there are likely some bugs that have to be squashed as well to make those techniques work the way you expect. Just chill folks, we’re on the job!”
