Rockstar has added a bunch of new content to popular cowboy-em-up Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode, giving Red Dead Online players new missions, activities and a hefty chunk of new story to explore.

First up are brand new missions expanding the mode's story, with new missions from Jessica LeClark as she continues the search as to who murdered her husbands. There's missions for both honorable Gunslingers and the Outlaws, depending on which morality path your online character is treading. These missions can be taken on solo or in co-op with a posse.

Elsewhere, a bunch of new Free Roam Missions have been added to the world, with more characters from the story of RDR2 showing up such as the Abederdeen Pig Farmers. Dynamic Events like strangers and passers by needing help are now included, and you can sit down and enjoy both private and public games of Poker with up to five other players. Overrun Showdown Mode has also been added, which sees two teams face off to nab more territory – and hold it – than their opponents.

A new weapon has been added in the LeMat Revolver, as well as new clothing options and emotes and jumping in this week will see  players granted 5 Gold Bars and a 25% increase of XP on A Land of Opportunities, Free Roam Missions, Showdown Modes, Races and Free Roam Events. Intreprid cowboys hunting for chests will also be able to claim 25% extra cash and gold.

On top of all of this, Rockstar has implemented new 'Playing Styles' features which allow you to set how you like to play and make adjustments to the hostility system. There's quite a substanial amount of other tweaks and additions too, you can read the complete details of these changes on post on the Rockstar Newswire.

This huge update actually marks the official shift of Red Dead Online into a full release and out of beta, as was reported from last night's Take Two earnings call earlier today. In this formal announcement, Rockstar has also announced updates coming beyond today's launch, including new roles players will be able to take on including Bounty Hunter, Trader and Collector.

Oh, and there's even a little video in celebration of Red Dead Online moving out of beta:
