Red Dead Online has been updated today with Gun Rush mode, a new offering that is about as close to the battle royale experience as you're likely to get from Rockstar Games' sprawling Wild West epic.

Gun Rush supports 32 players as they duke it out in a last-man-standing-wins scenario, all the while as the battlefield gradually shrinks. So yeah, it's very battle royale-esque in that sense. Gun Rush is playable in free-for-all and team-based flavours, and puts an emphasis on survival as you scavenge for weapons and ammo in hopes of bettering the opposition.

Rockstar also confirmed it's implementing a number of changes and extra features based on player feedback.

These include Daily Challenges that will see you tackling a number of different scenarios, while the Law and Bounty systems are getting tweaked so that players will be slapped with a bounty for committing crimes and are encouraged to pay them off within a set time limit.

Red Dead Online's Parley system is getting a kick up the arse too. Feuds, Posse Feuds, and Leader Feuds all being made more easier to trigger so that you'll be able to better avoid more aggressive players, which is good to know.

Finally, Rockstar is reducing the range of player location blips, which means it'll be harder to spot your enemies from a distance.

'Down the line, we’re also looking to introduce the ability to identify players who grief and kill indiscriminately with a progressively darkening blip that becomes more visible and at a longer range, so everyone in a session can identify potentially dangerous opponents at a glance and from a safe distance,' said the developer.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October. Be sure to have a gander at Colm's review here.
