Rockstar Games has finally decided to bring Red Dead Redemption to PC, fourteen years after the game’s debut on Xbox 360 and PC. After over a decade of port begging from fans of Rockstar’s GTA games, the long-awaited PC port is finally a reality.
Red Dead Redemption PC announced
Announced in a short one-minute trailer, the Red Dead Redemption PC port arrives on PC later this month. Releasing on October 29th, 2024, the new port also comes with a host of PC-specific features for players to enjoy.
Alongside support for ultrawide monitors up to 32:9 aspect ratios, native 4K and 144Hz framerates, the game also adds NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies, NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and more.
Red Dead Redemption on PC also comes with the game’s amazing Undead Nightmare expansion, zombifying the Western open-world game in a brilliant full campaign. After fourteen years, it’s amazing to see the game finally come to PC, and modders will undoutedly have a riot with it.
“For the first time in its storied legacy, John Marston’s beloved journey can be experienced on PC in stunning, new detail, with both Red Dead Redemption and its iconic zombie-horror companion story, Undead Nightmare, arriving to PC on October 29,” Rockstar announced.
Steam Deck support
Unfortunately, Steam Deck support was not mentioned in Rockstar’s official announcement of the Red Dead Redemption PC port. However, considering the age of the open-world epic, we can’t imagine it’ll have any trouble running on Valve’s handheld, especially considering the fact that the device easily runs GTA V.
On the other hand, with Rockstar recently breaking Steam Deck support for GTA V with the arrival of anti-cheat, Red Dead Redemption could have some issues. Nevertheless, the single-player content of the cowboy adventure should be a great get for all players on Valve’s handheld.
The new PC port releases on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
