Ubisoft has announced Rayman Raving Rabbids for release Holiday 2006 on multiple current and next-gen platforms. This will be the fourth instalment in the Rayman franchise, and it’s in development at Ubisoft’s award-winning Montpellier studio. Michel Ancel of Beyond Good and Evil and King Kong fame, and creator of Rayman, is leading the project.

Raving Rabbids is said to be Rayman’s zaniest adventure yet, with a horde of out of control bunnies threatening Rayman’s world. Amazing new abilities and a host of helpful characters must be used in order to save the world and fend off the dastardly bunnies.

It’s a real pleasure for me to be back working on an all-new Rayman,” said Michel Ancel. “After wrapping up Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie, the team here in Montpellier sat down to talk about having some fun with Rayman and his universe. We are running into a bit of a problem, though, because our game has been invaded by thousands of raving mad and vicious bunnies, who have apparently been preparing this assault since the very first Rayman game. We are now sending an SOS to all motivated gamers to help us get rid of them as fast as possible!”

During the adventure Rayman will tame wild creatures and use them to aid his cause, take on numerous disguises to infiltrate the bunny masterminds, and much more. Rayman Raving Rabbids will make its debut at E3 next week, and will launch in the Holiday season on current and next-gen systems.
