Rayman Legends will release on February 26, Ubisoft has reportedly told Nintendo fansite Pure Nintendo.

If true, the release date would put Rayman Legends toe-to-toe with 2K’s BioShock Infinite, which is due to launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC the same day.

However, speaking to VideoGamer.com this morning, a Ubisoft UK representative appeared to debunk Pure Nintendo’s report, saying that there was “no news on a solid release date” for the game, before reconfirming an “early 2013” release date.

“Ubisoft confirms that Rayman Legends is scheduled for release in early 2013,” Ubisoft said in a statement provided to VideoGamer.com. “The team is working hard to finalize the game and is looking forward to sharing more details with fans very soon!”

Ubisoft says that the statement applies globally, so who’s telling porkies?

Rayman Legends had been due to launch alongside Wii U last Friday, but was pushed back to Q1 2013 last month to allow for further polish.
