The tactical shooter based on Tom Clancy’s work is entering another chapter with another major update. Here, we’ll be looking at the release date for Rainbow Six Siege Year 9 Season 3 alongside info on the content that comes with it.
Every new season of the game gives Ubisoft a chance to shake things up by adding new features and tweaking older ones. Y9S3 is called Operation Twin Shells and it looks to be just as impactful as previous updates.
When does Rainbow Six Siege Y9S3 come out?
The new season will arrive on September 10, 2024. This was confirmed on the Operation Twin Shells reveal panel which has been uploaded to Ubisoft’s official YouTube channel.
New operator
Skopos joins the fray as the game’s latest operator. She’s a defender who hails from Greece and takes control of two robots in battle. These automatons are called shells, which is where the season’s title comes from.
The shells that accompany Skopos in battle will give the operator a unique playstyle as they’ll allow her to traverse the map like no one else can. Skopos can take control of one shell at a time while the other will act as a bulletproof barrier. If a shell is taken out while Skopos has control of it, she will be eliminated that round.
Added features
The upcoming season will also introduce some new features to help improve the overall experience with the game. Here’s a quick look at what’s being added.
Siege Cup Beta
A new mode catered towards more competitive players is scheduled for an official release during Y9S4. Beta testing for this tournament feature will begin in Y9S3 and it will be available to PC players in the NA and EU regions.
Shooting Range access during matchmaking
You can now jump into the Shooting Range while the game searches for a match that you can join. This can help with your pre-game warm-up or simply keep you busy while waiting for the next game to begin.
Balance updates
Aside from getting a new operator, existing operators are also slated for some balance changes with the release of the new season. Solis, Dokkaebi, and Nokk are confirmed to be the recipients of some gameplay tweaks when the update rolls around.
Jager Elite set
Operator Jager is set for a cosmetic upgrade with a new elite set. First shown during the reveal panel, the set is called “Exosphere Guardian” and has the operator donning a spacesuit complete with a dome-like helmet.
Versus AI 2.0: Attackers
After the update is implemented, you’ll be able to practice defensive strategies against AI-controlled Attackers.
More information should become available after Ubisoft releases the official patch notes.
