Touch device action game République from Ryan Payton’s Camoflaj studio will be made, after the game reached its Kickstarter goal of $500,000 earlier today.

The project appeared to be failing, but late lobbying and increased support meant the target was met with hours to spare.

Hearing news of the game’s Kickstarter success, Payton wrote on his Twitter account: “Thank you everyone! This has been surreal. (Trying not to cry like a big baby right now.)”

Payton was the associate producer on Metal Gear Solid 4.

République is described as an epic action game designed specifically for touch-based devices. You receive a desperate phone call from Hope, a young woman trapped within a shadowy totalitarian state. Using a stolen phone, she calls and begs you to hack into the nation’s surveillance system, assume control, and help her escape from the clutches of the omnipresent Overseer.

iOS and PC versions are promised.
