Eidos Montreal has dropped Quick Time Events from the upcoming Thief reboot after receiving negative feedback aimed at the controversial mechanic.

“We’re not implementing them,” explained the studio’s web content manager Valerie Bourdeau.

“To begin with, there were very few instances of QTEs in the game; in fact there was only one in that whole hour-long E3 demo. However, given the strong reactions it evoked in the press and the community, it was an easy decision to do away with them entirely. So we’re not doing it. No quick time.”

The news came as part of a new Q&A which also features info on swimming and the game’s Hardcore mode.

Thief will be released February 28 for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
