Remedy has revealed the first ever gameplay footage of upcoming Xbox One shooter Quantum Break.

Shown during this evening’s VGX awards, the footage offers the first look at the game’s time-manipulating shooting mechanics and the first details on the game’s story.

Quantum Break is a third-person cover shooter that puts players into the roles of Jack Joyce and Beth Wilder, who gain powers to manipulate time following an accident experimenting with time travel.

“This is a revolutionary entertainment experience that combines a cinematic action game and a high quality live-action show,” explained Remedy creative director Sam Lake.

“For us, this project is a dream come true. We’ve taken everything we’ve learned about interactive storytelling from Alan Wake and stylised cinematic action from Max Payne. We’ve raised the bar much higher and brought these elements together into one game, creating the ultimate Remedy experience.”

Quantum Break releases exclusively on Xbox One in 2014.
