QuakeCon 2013 will open on August 1, 2013 with a keynote address given by John Carmack, co-founder and technical director of id Software.

Attendees will also be able to take in presentations of The Elder Scrolls Online, Wolfenstein: The New Order and The Evil Within, plus a panel featuring Dishonored’s Raphael Colantonio, Ricardo Bare and Seth Shain.

The Elder Scrolls Online, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and Dishonored: Brigmore Witches will all be playable at the show.

QuakeCon 2013 runs August 1-4 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas, and is free for general admission attendees. Doors to the QuakeCon BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN party and gaming festival will open on August 1 at 9am.

Carmack’s keynotes always make pretty interesting viewing, but will the industry veteran use the time to speak about Doom 4? We can but hope. Failing that, something relating to what is possible on next-gen hardware would be good.
