In that Noclip video that we just based a separate story about mods on because news is an endless grind, PlayerUnknown’s creator Brendan Greene said that he doesn’t understand the animosity you see between devs, or devs taking potshots at each other, and basically exhorted everyone to get on with their own s**t.

Danny O’Dwyer asked Greene, regarding the launch of Greene’s now terrifyingly successful Battle Royale shooter game, ‘Who were you looking at as your competitors, and how did you think it was going to go?’

Greene replies that looking at other devs’ work isn’t something he’s ever really done. ‘Even in modding and stuff like that, I don’t worry about other games. It’s like, we’re making our game, we’re trying to make a good game. This is my mission. I don’t worry about anyone else,’ he said.

‘I keep saying, “We make games for a living, and play games for a living, and cover games for a living.” We have the best jobs in the world! I don’t understand this negativity sometimes between devs, and devs taking potshots at each other,’ he said. ‘Guys, we make video games for a living. Cop the f*** on, you know!’

Greene’s comments are fair enough, really, and the industry can be pretty combative and negative in general, which you’ll have seen for yourself if you’ve ever dipped a toe in games circles on social media. We’re on side, Brendan.

Greene also said that, although their are obvious competitors to PUBG out there, they’re all doing their own thing and there’s no point trying to fight, which, in fairness, is something he should probably tell PUBG’s publisher.

Speaking of, PlayerUknown’s Battlegrounds is nearing full launch on PC, supposedly still scheduled for next month, and will be on Xbox One via Xbox Game Preview on December 12. Chicken Dinner instead of turkey, eh lads? Eh?
