Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that PSP system software version v5.50 will launch on April 21, adding two new bits of functionality to the Sony’s handheld.

Once installed, v5.50 will remove the requirement of having a PlayStation Network account in order to browse the PSP’s PlayStation Store. Additionally, v5.50 will also make it possible to view the PlayStation Network’s Information Board on the PSP’s XMB interface. This will display a live news feed detailing the latest PlayStation Store offers.
