Industry analyst Michael Pachter has spoken out against the PlayStation 3’s new PSN pass, claiming that it’s not been introduced at the right time, and is unlikely to make Sony any money.

“PSN Pass is not timed particularly well. Curious if they make any money off this, I expect not,” the Wedbush analyst said in a Tweet.

Similar to EA’s Online Pass system, PSN Pass offers a single-use code to unlock full access to the online features of a particular game. Resistance 3 has been confirmed as the first title to use the pass, but more will follow.

This isn’t real analysis from Pachter this time around – there’s no data or stats to back anything up – it’s just a Tweet. Still, people seem to care what Pachter thinks, so it must hold some weight. Agree? Disagree? Whack your thoughts in the comments section below.
