There are a bunch of great games still slated to come out for the remainder of 2025 including Hell Is Us, Borderlands 4, Battlefield 6, and Silent Hill f. While there are dozens of big games coming, nothing is bigger than Call of Duty. While there is a lot of scepticism surrounding the quality of Black Ops 7, the developers of Code Violet realize that the new Call of Duty is still going to be “impossible” to compete with, and thus they have delayed their PS5 exclusive horror game featuring dinosaurs.
PS5 exclusive horror game delayed to avoid Call of Duty
On the official TeamKill Media X account, the developer of Code Violet has shared a message stating that the release date has been delayed from November 14th to December 12th. The delay is because Black Ops 7 is set to launch on November 14th, and TeamKill Media “recognize that competing with such a major release on a marketing level would be impossible”.
To compensate for the delay, the developer will gift players “two exclusive Christmas-themed outfits for Violet at launch”. In addition, during the extra month of development, they will be “enhancing character models, optimizing and polishing to deliver the most immersive and polished experience possible”.
In response to some users asking if the game will come to PC or other platforms in the future, TeamKill Media responded, “Nope, 100% PS5. No plans for any other platforms. CV from the beginning has been being built for the PS5 and its features”.
Code Violet is a PS5 exclusive horror game that looks exciting. It is third-person, and its horror features surviving against dinosaurs. Per the PSN store, you will “Feel the panic as you outmaneuver relentless dinosaurs with scarce resources and stealth, delivering the intense panic horror you crave”.
The decision to move from November to December to avoid Call of Duty is probably wise, and right now December isn’t too competitive. Hopefully the delay will benefit Code Violet as the game does look promising from its trailers.
As for Black Ops 7, despite criticisms of its reveal trailer and the series influx of cartoony skins, the game is still likely to be a huge success simply because it’s Call of Duty. Activision do have competition this year with the impressive Battlefield 6, so it will be interesting to see if EA’s multiplayer shooter affects this year’s CoD.
