Leaked PlayStation 4 Slim consoles that went on sale in the UK ahead of the system’s official reveal originated from a distribution center in the United Arab Emirates, according to a report by MCV.

In the latest issue of the magazine, MCV states that stock of the unannounced console “came from the UAE, which was holding units of the updated hardware reveal ahead of its expected reveal next week.” The report goes on to state that a “small quantity of units” ended up being “distributed amongst indie stores and eBay sellers”, before arriving in second-hand retailer CEX.

The hardware first appeared on Gumtree almost two weeks ago, and was later confirmed to be legitimate by various online outlets. The console is expected to be revealed during Sony’s PlayStation Meeting event taking place next Wednesday evening.

One retailer told MCV that they “didn’t even realise [PS4 Slim] was coming out until it was available to buy online.”

Alongside the PS4 Slim, a more powerful PS4 codenamed PlayStation Neo is also expected to be revealed next week.
