Over 250,000 PlayStation 4 consoles were sold in the UK during its first 48 hours on sale, MCV reports.
The figure puts the console’s initial sales at around 66 per cent higher than the Xbox One, which was alleged to have sold around 150,000 within its first two days.
MCV also suggests that the figure puts initial hardware revenue at around £87m.
Though Sony has yet to confirm sales figures, Chart Track revealed this morning that PS4 had become the fastest-selling console in the UK, outselling PSP’s 185,000 launch sales.
PS4 launched in the UK last Friday with stock already thought to have sold out across the country.
Update: It has been confirmed that both the Xbox One and PS4 have already outsold the life-to-date Wii U sales in the UK.
