PlayStation 4 will sell 120-130 million units across its lifetime, with Xbox One coming slightly behind at 100-110 million, industry analyst Michael Pachter has predicted.

Wii U, meanwhile, will only sell 20 million, Pachter believes.

Pachter is reported to have made the predictions during a talk at video games conference DICE Europe last week, in which he said that “the console installed base is as big as it’s ever going to get. [This] generation is not going to be bigger than the last generation. We’re going to be about the same.”

The last generation of consoles, he says, sold a combined total of 270 million units, roughly 10 million more than he expects the current generation of consoles to sell.

If Pachter is correct, PS2 will remain the best-selling console of all time with over 155 million units sold. Last-gen’s most successful console, Wii, had sold 101.56m units as of July 2015.

The latest official figures put current PS4 console sales at just over 25m. Microsoft, however, has not updated its Xbox One sales figures in almost a year, when it announced that the console was close to shipping 10m units.
