SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has admitted that he is intrigued by Nintendo’s Wii U system, and that it could inspire similar ventures with Sony’s hardware.

In the wake of Nintendo’s announcement, Yoshida told Develop: “Already people are starting to ask about linking Vita and PS3 to do something similar [to Wii U], in terms of using two screens, and having controls on the screen.

“That’s very interesting, and we will have to experiment,” he added.

“Lots of the things that developers of Vita games are doing, as you may have seen, is experimenting with connectivities between Vita and PS3.”

He went on to turn speculation into almost certainty by saying: “It’s just a matter of time [before developers] can make use of both PS3 and Vita, and they might come up with something interesting.”
