According to Imagination Technologies, the company behind the PowerVR chip that powers many smartphones including the iPhone, three years from now mobile devices will be able to offer graphics comparable to the PS3.
We’re not talking low resolution visuals either, but proper 720p images viewed either on native displays or on a TV output via HDMI.
The big change from what’s available now to the expected PS3 equalling graphics three years from now will be the introduction of multiprocessors – Imagination Technologies expects to be able to get three or four processors into a phone without pushing power demands through the roof.
