According to sales data released by Media Create it’s Sony who is celebrating this week, with its PS3 and PSP the two top-selling systems in Japan. The PSP continues its recent revival with 64,675 units sold, while the PS3 sees a huge leap up to 75,311.
Much of the PS3’s rise can be attributed to the popularity of Metal Gear Solid 4 and the associated hardware bundles on offer in Japan. It remains to be seen if the console can maintain higher sales in the coming weeks.
The Wii notched up weekly sales of 45,564 units, the DS 39,201 and the PS2 7,297 units. The Xbox 360 is, as usual, bringing up the rear with only 2,163 units sold.
