According to data released by the NPD Group, Activision’s Prototype was the top-selling video game of June in the US, shifting approximately 600,000 units across Xbox 360 and PS3 combined. The game performed much better on Xbox 360, though, selling 419,900 units.

NPD Group’s Anita Frazier commented: “While this is solid performance for new IP, it’s a relatively modest sales figure for any game capturing the top spot for the month.”

Next up came THQ’s UFC 2009 on 360 (338,300), EA Sports Active on Wii (289,100), Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 on Wii (272,400) and Wii Fit (271,600). Then came EA’s Fight Night Round 4, shifting 260,800 units on Xbox 360 and 202,100 units on PS3. Rounding off the top 10 are Red Faction: Guerrilla on Xbox 360 (199,400 units) and PS3 exclusive inFamous (192,700).

Frazier also points out that this is the first month since its launch at retail 29 months ago that Wii Play has not featured in the top 10 list.
